LaserAssisted In Situ Keratomileusis (LASIK) LASIK combines the precision of the Excimer Laser delivery system with the benefits of Automated Lamellar Keratoplasty.
LASIK is a surgical procedure to correct for nearsightedness, farsightedness or astigmatism. A thin corneal cap is created either with a laser or micro keratome and then the laser is used to reshape the cornea to correct for the refractive error of the eye. Most patients have both eyes done at the same time, minimizing time off and surgery time. The surgery is short, usually less than 15 minutes and most patients enjoy improved vision by the next day. Not every patient is a good Lasik candidate so we offer a free screening to determine if you are a good candidate for this procedure or PRK, a very similar laser refractive procedure.
